I'm not receiving my phone verification code

Troubleshooting steps if the SMS code to verify your account doesn't arrive

When you verify your account, we send a confirmation code by SMS to the phone number you entered. If the code doesn't arrive, it's usually caused by one of the reasons below. Please try these steps in order.

1. Wait a minute or two

SMS delivery can be delayed by your mobile carrier or network, especially during busy periods. Give it 1–2 minutes before requesting a new code — sometimes the original message still arrives.

2. Check your phone number and country code

Make sure the number is entered correctly, including the right country code (for example, +1 for the US, +44 for the UK, +86 for China). A missing or incorrect country code is one of the most common reasons the code never arrives.

3. Try again, or use a different number

Some mobile carriers block automated (application-to-person) SMS messages. If a first attempt doesn't arrive, request the code again. If it still doesn't come through, try verifying with a different phone number if you have one available.

4. Check whether the number is already in use

Because Hunter follows a strict one-account-per-user policy, a phone number that's already linked to another account may not be able to verify a new one. If this might be the case, contact us and we'll help sort it out.

5. Contact support

If none of the above works, we're happy to verify your account manually. Reach out via our website chat or email contact@hunter.io, and let us know the phone number you're trying to use so we can help promptly.

Your phone number is only used to verify your account. It won't be used elsewhere in Hunter or shared with any third party, as stated in our Privacy Policy.
