Understanding Hunter’s Account Policy and how to resolve email issues

Hunter follows a strict one-account-per-user policy to ensure fairness and prevent misuse.

This means you can only create one account, and trying to open multiple accounts violates Hunter’s Terms of Service.

Hunter uses security checks to detect and block duplicate accounts. These measures protect the platform and ensure everyone plays by the same rules.

Why your email might be blocked as a duplicate

Your email could be blocked during sign-up for a few common reasons:

  • It’s already linked to an existing account.

  • The system detects that it may be part of a duplicate account attempt.

  • The computer you're using is a public or shared device, causing Hunter to detect your account as a duplicate.

For example, if you used your work email to register before, you won’t be able to use it again for a new account unless the original one is closed.

What to do if your email is blocked

Option 1: Update the email associated with your existing account

If you want to switch to a different email (like a new work address), you can update your existing account in your Account Settings.

Some things to note:

  • Once updated, the old email can’t be reused to create a new account.

  • Updating your email won’t reset your free credits.

  • If the update fails, the new email might already be linked to another account. In this case, please contact Hunter’s support team for assistance removing the duplicate.

Option 2: Contact Support

If you're unsure whether your email is tied to another account or if you can no longer access the account to make the change, please contact support.

How to stay compliant with Hunter's account policy

  1. Only create one account per user.

  2. Never share your Hunter password & account with other users.

  3. Use the email update feature in your Account Settings if you want to change your registered address.
