What is a sending status within Hunter Campaigns?

In Hunter Campaigns, a sending status refers to the current dispositional status of a recipient engaged in outreach. This status can help you understand what stage of outreach the recipient is currently at within a campaign.

There are 10 possible sending statuses that can be attributed to a recipient within Campaigns:

  • Sent

  • Opened

  • Clicked

  • Replied

  • Scheduled

  • Bounced

  • Unsubscribed

  • Error

  • Canceled

  • Successful

What do the possible sending statuses mean?

  • Sent

This status indicates that the most recent email within your campaign has been successfully sent and delivered. This status will remain until another action overrides it (for example, a recipient opening the email) or if a new email is scheduled.

  • Opened

This status indicates that the recipient has opened the most recently sent email. This status will remain until another action overrides it (for example, a recipient clicking on a link within the email) or if a new email is scheduled. You can learn more about how Hunter tracks email open rates here.

  • Clicked

This status indicates that the recipient has opened the most recently sent email and has clicked a link within the email. This status will remain until another action overrides it (for example, a recipient replying to the email) or if a new email is scheduled. Link tracking is a feature available for all premium plans.

  • Replied

This status indicates that the recipient has replied to an email sent within a campaign. This status will also be applied if any auto-replies (for example, an out of office response) have been detected.

This is a terminal status, so once a reply has been detected the campaign will end for this recipient and no actions will automatically override this status. Any replies detected will appear in the Hunter Inbox.

  • Scheduled

This status indicates that an email to this recipient is scheduled to send in the future. This status will be applied before the initial email sends, and will override sent, opened, and clicked statuses when a new follow-up is scheduled. Scheduled emails can be found in your Campaigns Queue.

  • Bounced

This status indicates that the email to this recipient has been detected as a bounce. This status will remain and indicates that future emails to this recipient will be canceled and this recipient will be added to your Unsubscriptions list to prevent any further outreach in other campaigns.

  • Unsubscribed

This status indicates that the recipient of this email has clicked the "unsubscribe" link in your email. This status will remain and indicates that all future emails to this recipient will be canceled and this recipient will be added to your Unsubscriptions list to prevent any further outreach in other campaigns.

  • Error

This status indicates that the email could not be sent due to an error. You can learn more about possible sending errors here. If you need assistance with emails that are seeing an error status, please contact our support team for direct assistance.

  • Canceled

This status indicates that upcoming emails for this recipient has been canceled. All following emails will also be canceled for this recipient. This status is permanent and no other statuses will override it.

This status can be manually applied, but will also be applied automatically to any follow-ups after an initial email has bounced or produced a sending error. It will also be applied to any additional emails scheduled for recipients who are marked successful, or who have unsubscribed.

  • Successful

This status indicates that your outreach to this recipient has been successful. This status can only be manually applied, and will be available for you once a recipient has either opened, clicked, or replied to one of your emails. You can learn more about the successful status and how to use it here.

Where can I see the sending statuses for my recipients?

You can see the sending status in various places throughout Hunter. For example, it's possible to see and filter statuses within a campaign, at the recipient level, and even in Leads.

The "Emails" tab:

You can see the sending status of each email within the campaign in the Emails tab of that campaign as shown below:

These statuses will be per email, so you can see the multiple statuses of your recipient throughout the life of the campaign.

You can also filter the emails shown by the sending status as shown here:

The "Audience" tab:

You can see the current sending status for a recipient within the Audience tab of a given campaign.

The sending status will be pulled from the most recent email, or will be "scheduled" if a new email has been scheduled.

Within "Leads":

Within the Leads section of your Hunter account you will also be able to see the sending status for a lead as shown below:

Like in the Audience tab, this sending status will be for the recipient and will pull from the last email sent or will appear as "scheduled" if a new upcoming email is scheduled to send.

If the lead has never received outreach from a campaign and no emails are scheduled to send, the "Never contacted" status will show instead:

Within Leads you can also filter your leads by their current sending status as shown below:

For example, you could filter your list to only see leads with the "Never contacted" status so you know exactly who you need to reach out to next.

You can also filter by any other sending statuses to separate your leads however you'd like, and you can select more than one status at a time to create dynamic lists.
