How Hunter tracks email open rates
When "Track email opens" is enabled for a sequence, a unique tracking pixel is added to every email within that sequence. When the recipient opens the email, Hunter automatically logs an open event, letting you know when and how many times each recipient opened the email.
đĄTracking email opens is included in a free plan - link clicks tracking is only available on an all-in-one paid plan.
How Hunter tracks link clicks
When the "Track link clicks" option is enabled from the Settings tab inside your email sequence, Hunter will track when and how many times a recipient clicks on a link included in your email.
Note: We canât detect which specific link was clicked. If multiple links are included in the email, weâll only track the overall click rate.
How open and click rates are calculated
Open rate and click rate are calculated at the recipient level, not the message level:
They reflect the percentage of people you contacted who opened or clicked your emails, not how many times emails were opened or clicked in total.
If the same recipient opens multiple emails in your sequence, they still count as one unique opener.
Example: if you contact 100 people and 20 of them open at least one of your emails, your open rate is 20%, regardless of how many times each person opened.
How to enable/disable the tracking
When you launch a new sequence, open and link tracking are disabled by default.
To enable tracking for email opens and link clicks, go to the Settings tab of your email sequence and toggle the tracking option on.
When you enable open tracking, Hunter adds a small, invisible tracking pixel to your sequence emails. When the pixel loads, the email is recorded as opened.
For affected recipients, the tracking pixel will only be added to emails sent to contacts who have explicitly consented to tracking. Contacts without recorded consent will not be tracked and will be excluded from open and click rate calculations.
Knowing who has opened or clicked links in your emails
After the emails in your sequence are sent, here's where you can check who opened or clicked:
Emails tab (inside the sequence) â the number next to "Opened" (e.g. "Opened ¡ 1") shows how many times that recipient opened that specific email step.
Engagement section â shows total opens per recipient across all steps.
Leads page â open a recipient's profile for a detailed breakdown, including each individual open event and exactly when it happened.
đĄ If your email includes a BCC, open tracking will also track when the BCC recipient opens the email.
Track the open rate or link click rate of an email sequence
You can find open and click rate data in a few places:
Sequence overview â the eye icon at the top right of the main sequence view shows the overall open rate.
Statistics tab â a more detailed breakdown of opens, with link clicks shown using a finger icon.
All Sequences dashboard â open rate, click rate, and other data points for each sequence.
Engagement tab â the number of unique opens per recipient.
You can also view the open rate or link click statistics and other data points about a specific email sequence on the All Sequences dashboard.
The number of unique opens is also available per recipient in the Engagement tab within Email Sequences.
