What are unsubscriptions?
Unsubscriptions in Hunter include all contacts who have:
Clicked the Unsubscribe link in one of your emails.
Requested to be unsubscribed by replying to an email.
Bounced or belong to domains that were manually unsubscribed.
Once added to the Unsubscriptions list, Hunter automatically blocks all future emails to those contacts — even if they are accidentally re-added to a campaign. This helps:
Protect your sender reputation.
Maintain strong email deliverability.
Ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection laws.
💡When someone unsubscribes, that preference applies team-wide, so the contact won’t receive emails from any connected Campaigns account within your Hunter team.
Tracking your unsubscribe rate in each campaign’s statistics helps you identify ways to improve your messaging and reduce spam complaints.
How do recipients unsubscribe?
Leads can unsubscribe from your emails in two ways:
By clicking the Unsubscribe link in your email.
By replying to your email with a request to unsubscribe.
Scenario 1: unsubscribed by clicking the Unsubscribe link
If a lead clicks the Unsubscribe link in your email, they will be automatically added to your Unsubscriptions list.
In your campaign dashboard, the sending status for that lead will be updated to Unsubscribed.
👉 You can find how to add or delete an unsubscribe sentence to your email campaigns here: How to include an unsubscribe link or deactivate it
Scenario 2: Lead requests to unsubscribe by replying to your email
If a lead replies to your email with the word “unsubscribe” (within the first 100 characters of their message), Hunter automatically detects and processes the request.
You’ll find these messages in your Hunter Inbox, tagged as Unsubscribe.
The lead’s campaign status will also update to Unsubscribed.
In this case, you’ll see the following notification:
⚠️ [recipient's email] has requested to unsubscribe from your emails.
We’ve added this contact to your Unsubscriptions list to stop future emails.
We recommend avoiding contact outside Hunter as well.
The Unsubscriptions section
The Unsubscriptions section is divided into four tabs, All, Unsubscribed, Bounced and Domains.
Tab | Description |
All | Displays all unsubscriptions by type. |
Unsubscribed | Includes leads who opted out or were manually added. |
Bounced | Includes addresses that bounced (undeliverable). |
Domains | Lists entire domains manually unsubscribed. |
💡To learn more about reducing bounces, check this guide: Prevent your emails from bouncing.
Manage your unsubscriptions
In the All tab, you’ll see every unsubscribed contact with details such as:

Source (the campaign name or if it was a manual addition.
You can:
Search for a specific contact using the search bar.
Add new leads or domains to your unsubscriptions manually using the + New button.
Download all unsubscriptions as a CSV file.
Manually add a lead or domain
To stop outreach to specific companies or contacts permanently, you can manually unsubscribe an email address or domain:
Click + New in the Unsubscriptions section.
Enter one email or domain per line.
Click Add.
Remove manually added leads or domains
You can remove only manually added unsubscriptions by clicking the bin icon next to the entry.
⚠️ Genuine unsubscriptions and hard bounces are permanent and cannot be deleted. You will not see a bin icon next to those entries.
💡 Removing a contact from the unsubscriptions list does not automatically re-add them to your Leads list.
