Before you start

Why use managed email accounts?

Managed email accounts let you create new email accounts directly in Hunter to send emails from Sequences, without relying on external email providers.

💡 Managed domains and email accounts are the fastest and most secure option for outreach. No DNS setup is required.

With managed email accounts, you can:

  • Buy domains and email accounts in one place

  • Start sending without manual technical setup — domains come preconfigured with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC

  • Use accounts safely in Sequences with built-in deliverability checks

  • Rotate multiple accounts across campaigns to protect sender reputation

💡Once you’ve set up your new email accounts, be sure to warm them up—either manually or automatically—with our Inbox Protection paid add-on to start gradually building a sending reputation.

Step 1: Open the Email Account Center

Go to Email Accounts Center and click + Add email account.

Choose Create managed email accounts to buy new domains and email accounts.

If you already have an email account with an external provider, you can instead choose Connect an existing email account. See Connect your email account to Email Sequences for that workflow.

Step 2: Choose your domains

Select the domains that will be used to create the email accounts.

Hunter recommends available domains generated from your main domain. You can also manually add a domain if it's available.

You can:

  • Choose one or multiple domains

  • Set a domain redirect so visitors are redirected to your main website

⚠️ You can't use a domain you already own or one that is already registered elsewhere.

Step 3: Choose senders and email accounts

Create the email accounts that will be used in Sequences.

Select the team members who will use the accounts — their names will be associated with the email accounts. Hunter suggests your name and the names of existing team members.

For each account, choose:

  • The domain

  • The sender (team member)

  • The number of email accounts to create per sender

You can also optionally generate a default signature using dynamic attributes like {first_name}, {last_name}, and {email}. The signature can be also edited afterwards.

Step 4 (optional): Add Inbox Protection

During setup, you can purchase Inbox Protection for each new email account.

Inbox Protection is a paid add-on that builds and maintains your sender reputation automatically. It starts as soon as the email account is provisioned and progressively warms up the inbox through real email engagement.

This is recommended for:

  • New email accounts that have never sent outreach before

  • Inactive email accounts being reused for outreach

  • Teams that want deliverability protection before scaling sending

Inbox Protection is billed separately per email account. See Inbox Protection: warm up and protect your sender reputation for full details.

Step 5: Confirm billing and checkout

Review and confirm:

  • Domain owner information

  • Billing details and payment method

  • The domains and email accounts you're purchasing

  • Any Inbox Protection add-ons selected

Step 6: Provisioning and account status

After completing payment, Hunter starts provisioning the domains and email accounts.

Managed email accounts are usually ready within 1 hour, with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC fully configured. You'll receive an email when the accounts are ready, and you can check the status at any time in the Email Account Center.

Accounts marked as Active are ready to use in Sequences.

Managed email accounts in Hunter Sequences

👉 Important: Even though your account is technically ready to send, it's a brand new email account with no sending history. Email providers will scrutinize it closely. We strongly recommend using one of these before launching your first sequence:

  • Inbox Protection (recommended) — actively builds your sender reputation through real engagement before you start outreach. If purchased during setup, it starts automatically once provisioned. You can also purchase it after setup.

  • Progressive Sending — gradually increases your daily sending limit so you don't trigger spam filters with sudden volume.

Skipping this step and sending at full volume from a new account is the most common cause of deliverability issues and emails landing in spam.

💡 New managed email accounts start with a daily sending limit of 3 emails per day, which can be increased over time up to 400 emails per day. To scale safely, use Inbox Protection or Progressive Sending.

You can edit sending limits at any time from the Email Account Center. See Manage your email account settings for details.

Deliverability health checks

Hunter automatically checks deliverability for all managed domains and email accounts, including:

  • SPF, DKIM, and DMARC configuration

  • MX records

  • Reputation and blacklist signals

  • Domain age and website checks

  • Spam and bounce signals

If an issue is detected, Hunter shows the items that need attention. You can also pause Sequences using an affected account directly from the health panel.

Billing and renewals

  • Domains renew yearly. Cancel before the renewal date to avoid charges.

  • Email accounts renew monthly ($6/month per account). Email accounts remain active until the last day of the current billing period — after that, outreach stops and the account can no longer be used in Sequences.

  • Inbox Protection renews monthly per email account. If disabled, it stops immediately and warm-up data is lost. Re-enabling starts the process from scratch.

⚠️ Unused email accounts or domains are not refundable.

FAQs

  • How long does provisioning take? Managed email accounts are usually ready within 1 hour.

  • Does Hunter configure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC? Yes — Hunter automatically configures all authentication records for managed domains. No DNS setup is required on your end.

  • Can I add Inbox Protection after purchase? Yes. You can enable Inbox Protection at any time from the email account profile in the Email Account Center. See Inbox Protection for setup instructions.

  • Can I start sending emails right away? Yes, but new accounts start at 3 emails/day for a reason. Sending too much too soon can hurt deliverability. Scale gradually with Progressive Sending, or use Inbox Protection for active reputation building.

  • What's the cost? Email accounts cost $6/month each. A domain is required — pricing starts at $16.51 USD/year. Inbox Protection is billed separately per account.

  • What happens if I cancel my email account? Your email account remains active until the last day of your current billing period. After that, outreach stops and the account can no longer be used in Sequences.

  • Where can I find the credentials for a managed account? In the Email Account Center, click View on the email account, then open the three-dot menu and select Credentials.

  • Can I connect a managed email account to an external email client? The credentials allow you to access the account, but managed accounts are designed to be used primarily within Hunter Sequences.
