Cancel your subscription's renewal

How to cancel your Hunter subscription renewal, what happens to your credits and data, and what alternatives are available before you cancel.

If you've decided to stop your Hunter subscription, you can cancel the renewal at any time from your Billing & subscription page. This article walks you through how to do it, what happens to your account afterwards, and a few alternatives in case cancelling isn't the only path forward.

⚠️ Cancel before your renewal date. If your renewal charge happens before you cancel, even by a few hours, you'll be billed for that period. You can see your next renewal date on the Details tab of your Billing & subscription page.

Only the team owner can cancel a subscription. If you're a team member, you'll see the page but won't have the Cancel option.

How to cancel your subscription

  1. Go to Account β†’ Billing & subscription

  2. Open the Details tab

  3. At the top of your plan card, click Cancel plan

  4. Follow the on-screen steps to confirm

That's it: your subscription's renewal is cancelled. You can see the cancellation status at the top of your Billing & subscription page.

What happens after you cancel

Cancelling stops future renewals, nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't reverse charges that have already happened, and it doesn't immediately downgrade your account. Here's exactly what happens:

  • You keep your paid plan until the end of your current billing period. Use it normally: all features, all credits.

  • At the end of your billing period, your account switches to the Free plan. You'll keep 50 monthly credits shared across all Hunter tools.

  • Your account, contacts, leads, sequences, and data are preserved. Nothing is deleted.

  • Your sequences will pause when your paid plan ends. You can resume them by resubscribing to a paid plan.

  • No further charges will be made on your card.

If you change your mind after cancelling, you can resubscribe at any time, your account and data will be exactly where you left them.

Refunds

Hunter doesn't offer refunds for unused or partially used subscriptions once payment has been processed. This applies to monthly and yearly plans, in line with our Terms of Service.

If the subscription owner has left your company

If the person who created the Hunter subscription is no longer with your company, only that account can cancel the subscription from the Billing & subscription page. In that case, the workflow is:

  1. If you still have access to the previous owner's email inbox, log in as them and follow the cancellation steps above.

  2. If you don't have access to their email, contact our support team from a company email address. Include the previous owner's name and email, and we'll help you transfer ownership or cancel the subscription on your behalf.

For security reasons, we'll verify your association with the company before making changes to the account.

Plan-specific notes

Enterprise plans

Enterprise subscriptions can only be cancelled after the minimum committed duration specified on your contract. Please reach out to your Account Manager to discuss your situation.

Data Platform plans

Data Platform plans can be cancelled the same way as All-in-one Outreach plans, from the Details tab.

Yearly plans

Yearly plans can be cancelled at any time. You'll keep access until your yearly term ends (the original renewal date) and there's no refund for the unused portion.

Before you cancel: alternatives to consider

If you're cancelling because Hunter isn't quite the right fit right now, you have a few softer options:

Pause your subscription renewal (1, 2, or 3 months)

Take a break without losing your data or settings. Your subscription auto-resumes after the pause with 30% off the first payment.

πŸ“˜ Available on monthly All-in-one Outreach plans: see Pause your subscription's renewal.

Downgrade to a lower tier

If your usage is lower than expected, switching to a smaller plan can save you money without losing access entirely.

Cancel just an add-on, not the whole plan

If the cost issue is a specific add-on (extra email account slots, domains, Inbox Protection), you can cancel those individually from the Additional subscriptions section without touching your main plan.

Frequently asked questions

I got charged just before I cancelled: can I get that refund?

No. Cancellation only stops future renewals. If your renewal charge has already been processed (even minutes before cancelling), that period is paid for and non-refundable. You'll keep full access to your paid plan until the end of that billing period, and your account will move to Free afterwards.

Will I lose my data after cancellation?

No. Your account, contacts, leads, sequences, and saved data are preserved. You'll move to the Free plan with limited daily credits but full account access.

What happens to my credit packs?

Credit packs stay valid for 3 months from the date of purchase, regardless of your subscription status. Even after switching back to Free, you can still use any remaining credit pack balance until expiry.

What about my add-ons (email account slots, domains, Inbox Protection)?

Add-ons in the Additional subscriptions section have their own renewal cycles and are not automatically cancelled when you cancel your main plan. Cancel them individually from that section if you no longer want them.

Will my team members lose access?

When your paid plan ends, all team members on the account move to the Free plan along with you.

Can I cancel and resubscribe later?

Yes, at any time. Just go to the Pricing page when you're ready. Your account, settings, and data are preserved.

I can't see the Cancel plan button.

You're probably not the subscription owner. Only the owner can cancel: they're listed in the Team row of the Details tab. If they're no longer with your company, see If the subscription owner has left your company above.
