Before launching an email sequence, we recommend verifying recipients in the Audience section to reduce bounce rates and protect your sender reputation.
This guide explains how to verify recipients directly inside an email sequence before launching it.
Why verifying recipients matters
Email statuses can change quickly. An email address that was valid a few weeks ago may now bounce.
Verifying recipients just before launching your email sequence helps you:
Reduce bounce rates
Protect your sending reputation
Improve deliverability
Avoid sending to invalid email addresses
đĄEmail addresses verified as invalid will automatically be excluded from outreach, even if they have been added to an email sequence.
How to verify recipients in the Audience section
You can verify recipients directly from your email sequence before launching it.
Step 1: Open your sequence's Audience
Go to Sequences.
Open the sequence youâre preparing.
Click on the Audience tab.
Step 2: Add recipients to your Audience
Before verifying recipients, make sure they are added to your email sequencesâ Audience
đ If you haven't added any recipients yet, check the following help article on How to add recipients to an email sequence.
Step 3: Check your recipients' verification status
If your Audience list already contains recipients, youâll see the verification status displayed next to each email address. This allows you to quickly understand whether your list is ready to send or if you should verify some of the emails or all emails first.
When you hover over the verification status, youâll also see the verification date, which shows when the email was last checked. This helps you assess how up-to-date the verification is.
đĄ Pay special attention to Accept-All emails. These are addresses that cannot be fully verified. We recommend avoiding contact with Accept-All domains that have a confidence score lower than 85%, as they may increase your bounce risk.
Step 4: Verify unverified email addresses
You have different options to verify recipients before contacting them:
Test all unverified email addresses to verify them in bulk
Test all unverified email addresses to verify them in bulk
If your list of recipients includes multiple email addresses that havenât been verified, youâll see a yellow banner showing the percentage of unverified emails. You can click âTest all unverified email addressesâ to verify them in bulk.
Credit cost will also be displayed.
Verify while uploading recipients via CSV import
Verify while uploading recipients via CSV import
When you choose to import recipients via CSV import, youâll have the option to verify the email addresses during the import process.
If you select this option, your leads will be verified as soon as theyâre added. The cost of the verification will be displayed before you confirm.
đYou can learn more about importing leads here.
You will see a loading wheel, and once verification is complete, the status will update automatically.
đĄFor each email verified, we calculate 0.5 credit. The total verification credit cost will always be displayed.
Verify your leads in the Leads section before adding them to a sequence
You can add recipients to an email sequence from an existing People leads list. Before adding them to a new or existing sequence, you can verify the leads to ensure their email addresses are valid.
Go to your Leads list.
Select the leads you want to verify (you can also filter by Verification date first, to see leads that haven't been verified for a while).
Once selected, click Verify leads.
We have a helpful article about how to use filters to target specific leads for your email sequence.
đĄ Tip: Filter by Verification status = Valid before adding the leads to a sequence, if you want to add only valid leads to your sequence.
To sum things up
Verification costs 0.5 credit per email, and the total cost is always displayed before you confirm.
