How to import companies into Hunter

You can import multiple companies into Hunter Leads using the Import companies feature in Leads. This allows you to upload a CSV or TXT file and organize companies into specific Company lists.

This guide explains how to upload your file, map fields, and control how existing companies are handled.


Before you start

Make sure your file:

  • Is in CSV or TXT format

  • Uses comma (,) or semicolon (;) delimiters

  • Includes at least one company identifier per row (for example, company name or domain)

You can also add a single company manually using + New company.

💡 Your imported companies will automatically be enriched with all available data points, including industry, social media profiles, location, and more.


Step-by-step guide to import a list of companies

Step 1: Upload your file

  1. Go to LeadsCompany lists.

    • To add just one company, click + New company instead.

  2. Upload your CSV or TXT file containing company names or domains.

Step 2: Map your columns

  1. Click Next.

  2. Match each column in your file to the appropriate Hunter company attribute.

  3. If your file includes column headers, enable Headers in first row.

Step 3: Configure import settings

In this step, you decide where the companies will be added and how duplicates are handled.

1️⃣ Choose a company list

You can:

  • Add companies to an existing list

  • Create a new list

  • Add the list to a specific folder

If creating a new list:

  1. Enter a list name.

  2. Save the configuration.

2️⃣ Handle existing companies

If some companies already exist in your account, choose one of the following options:

  1. Don’t import existing companies

    • Existing companies are ignored.

    • They remain in their current lists.

  2. Copy existing companies to this list

    • Existing companies are updated.

    • They remain in their original list.

    • They are added to the new list.

  3. Move existing companies to this list

    • Existing companies are updated.

    • They are moved to the selected list.

Choose the option that matches how you want to organize your Company lists.


What to expect after starting the import

  • Companies are added to your selected list.

  • Large imports may take a few minutes to process.

  • You can continue using Hunter while the import runs and freely leave the page.
