How to add recipients to a Hunter sequence

Learn how to add recipients to a Hunter email sequence from Leads, a CSV/TXT file, or manually.

Overview

Before launching a sequence, you need to add recipients to the Audience section.

You can add recipients in three ways:

  • Import from Leads

  • Upload a CSV or TXT file

  • Add email addresses manually

You can also add leads directly from the Leads section without opening the sequence first.


Add recipients from the Audience section

Go to your sequence → open the Audience tab → click + Add.

You’ll see three options.

Option 1: Import from Leads

Use this option to add leads already saved in Hunter.

  1. Select From Leads.

  2. Use filters to find the leads you want to add.

  3. Select leads.

  4. Click Add to sequence.

💡Important:

  • A default filter “Never contacted” is applied automatically.

  • You can keep or remove this filter.

  • You can filter by default fields and custom attributes.

Option 2: Upload a CSV or TXT file

Use this option to import new leads.

  1. Select Upload a CSV.

  2. Upload your CSV or TXT file.

  3. Map columns to the correct attributes.

  4. (Optional) Verify emails.

  5. Choose whether to:

    • Add to an existing list

    • Create a new list

  6. Confirm the import.

File requirements:

  • Must use commas or semicolons as column delimiters

  • Must include at least one email column

  • Valid email format required (example: name@company.com)

Verification cost:

  • 0.5 credits per email verification

  • Cost is displayed before confirming

Plan limit note:

If your file contains more recipients than your plan allows per sequence, Hunter will import only the first rows up to your plan’s limit (for example, 500 on the Free plan).

Option 3: Add recipients manually

Use this option to paste or type email addresses.

  1. Select Manually.

  2. Enter email addresses:

    • Comma-separated, or

    • One per line

  3. Confirm.

The window you will get to manually enter email addresses to your campaign.

💡 Important:

  • These contacts will be saved as Leads.

  • If you paste more than 100 emails, a new Leads import will be created automatically.


Add leads directly from the Leads section

You can add leads without opening a sequence first.

  1. Go to the Leads section.

  2. Select one or more leads.

  3. Click Add to a sequence

    or

    Click the three dots → Create a new sequence.

Team restriction:

If you’re part of a Team and not an Admin or Owner, you can only add leads to your own sequences.


Add recipients to an existing active sequence

To add new recipients later:

  1. Open the sequence.

  2. Go to the Audience tab.

  3. Click + Add.

  4. Choose one of the three methods above.

💡 Important:

If the sequence is already active, newly added leads will automatically enter the sequence and receive emails according to your sending schedule.
