Update active email sequences

How to modify an active email sequence after it has been launched

Even after an email sequence has been launched, you still have the option to make changes. For instance, you can add additional recipients, edit the content, and add new follow-ups. New emails will be modified and scheduled accordingly.

Edit the content of an active email sequence

To edit the content of an active email sequence, you must first pause the sending of that sequence.

Don't worry, you'll be able to resume your sequence as soon as you've completed your edits, and all changes will take effect for any emails that have not yet been sent.

๐Ÿ‘‰To edit the content or subject line of your email sequence or any follow-ups, go to the Content section of the sequence and make any relevant changes. Click the Pause button at the top if you have not already done so:

Then, started editing! The system will automatically save the content and apply it to all of your scheduled emails.


Edit single emails in a paused sequence

When editing your sequences, you have full control over your outgoing emails. You can edit them or add some additional personalization.

๐Ÿ‘‰ When editing individual emails, your changes will only apply to the specific email you edit. To do so, go to the Emails section of your email sequence. Here, you can find all of your scheduled, sent, or cancelled emails.

Now, simply edit your content or the subject line and wait for the auto-save. Once a scheduled email has been edited, it will have an Edited tag.

Since you can find all your scheduled, sent, or cancelled emails in the Emails section, we recommend filtering by Email Status - Scheduled only to see the scheduled emails and by Step (First email, 1st Follow-up, 2nd Follow-up, etc.).

You can also search for a specific recipient by entering their email address in the search box on the right.


Add recipients to an active email sequence

You can add additional recipients to an existing and active email sequence, allowing you to send the same messages to new leads without creating a duplicate sequence.

โ„น๏ธ Cancelled recipients cannot be re-added to the same email sequence.

You have different options to do so:

  • From the Audience section inside your email sequence

To add new leads to an existing email sequence, go to the Audience section inside your sequence, select + Add, and choose one of the three methods explained here: Adding recipients to a sequence.

  • From the Leads section

You can also add single recipients directly from a People's list or add entire lists.

In the Leads section, select the single lead(s) you want to add by checking the leads or select the entire list by clicking on the checkbox beside the full name column and selecting Select all.

A blue actions menu will pop up, click on Add to sequence

  • From the Domain Search and Email Finder

You can also add new leads to new or existing email sequences from the Domain Search or Email Finder tool.

Start by searching for your leads and then select Add to sequence. Here you will have the option to add the lead to an existing sequence (select the one from the dropdown menu) or create a new one by clicking on Create a new sequence.

๐Ÿ‘‰ If you are a part of a Team, and you are not an Admin or the Owner of the subscription, keep in mind that you can only add leads to your own sequences and not to sequences created by other Team members.


Add a follow-up to an existing email sequence

It is also possible to add follow-up(s) once an email sequence is active. To do that, you need to pause it first, in the top-right corner of the sequence. Then, go to the bottom of the Content section, and click on the Add a follow-up button.

Once you finish adding your follow-up(s), resume your sequence by toggling it on again.


Remove follow-ups from an active sequence

You can remove follow-ups from a launched sequence under the following conditions:

  1. No follow-up messages have been sent yet.

  2. The email sequence is paused.

  3. There are no additional follow-ups scheduled after the one you wish to delete.

๐Ÿ‘‰ To delete a follow-up:

  1. Pause the sequence.

  2. Navigate to the Content section of your email sequence.

  3. Locate the follow-up you want to remove and select Remove.

๐Ÿ’กIf the Remove button is not visible, it indicates that one or more of the above conditions have not been met, and the follow-up cannot be deleted.


Email account rotation: distribute scheduled emails for an active email sequence

It is possible to add additional senders to an active email sequence; you do not even have to pause the sequence first. To use this feature, you will need at least two email accounts to be set up.

โ„น๏ธ Only new recipients or recipients in the email sequence who haven't been scheduled yet will be distributed among the two accounts.

๐Ÿ‘‰ To add an additional email account to send from, go to the "Settings" step of your sequence, click on the "Add account" button, and select the account you wish to add.

Once configured, the emails will be sent out in rotation to the recipients, alternating between the chosen sender email accounts, respecting each account's daily sending limit.


Duplicate an email sequence's content

To duplicate an entire email sequence's content, go to Email Sequences and click on the email sequence you wish to duplicate. Once you're inside the sequence, simply click on the arrow beside the sequence's title to open the dropdown menu and select Duplicate.

You will be automatically redirected to a new email sequence with the same duplicated email content, including any follow-ups you may have received.

โ„น๏ธ By design, the audience will not be duplicated.


Update an email sequence's name

To rename a sequence, go to Email Sequences and click on the sequence you wish to update. Once youโ€™re inside the sequence, click the arrow beside the sequence's name and select Rename. Enter the new sequence name and press the Rename button to save your changes.
