What is a lead in Hunter?
In Hunter, a lead represents a single person or company profile you’ve saved or imported — usually including an email address and related public information.
All leads will be visible in your Leads section — the central place for your cold outreach workflow—where you can find emails, enrich prospects, and contact them through cold email sequences.
Company Leads vs. People Leads
Hunter supports two types of leads:
Company leads represent an organization. They focus on company-level information such as the company name, domain, industry, and location, and are useful for researching and qualifying accounts.
People leads represent individual contacts within a company. They include personal and professional details such as name, email address, job title, and verification data, and are used for outreach and email sequences.
You can save both company and people leads from Hunter tools like Discover, and find people leads through our prospecting tools, such as the Domain Search and Email Finder, and manage them together in the Leads section.
What Information does a people lead contain?
A People lead can include a wide range of professional and company-level data, depending on what data we have available.
Name – First and/or last name of the contact.
Email address – The professional email.
Company name & domain – The organization the lead works for.
Job title / position – Role within the company.
Decision maker – A crown icon shown next to the lead's name when their job title indicates a decision-making role.
Website – Company website.
Industry – The industry the company operates in.
Department – Department the lead belongs to (e.g. Sales, Marketing). Departments are assigned automatically from the job title, and may be updated as we improve how roles are grouped.
Company type – Type of organization (e.g. SaaS, agency).
Company country – Country where the company is located.
Location – Geographic location of the lead.
Phone number – Contact phone number, when available.
Verification status – Current deliverability status of the email
Confidence score – Deliverability confidence score for the email address.
Verification date – Date the email was last verified.
Tags – Custom labels used to organize leads.
LinkedIn URL – When available from public sources.
Twitter – Twitter/X profile URL, when available.
What the crown icon next to a lead means
In the Leads table, a small crown appears next to a lead's name when Hunter identifies that person as a decision maker.
The crown is applied automatically, based on the job title Hunter has on record for that lead. It covers senior roles such as founders and co-founders, C-level positions, and titles like VP, Director, or Head of a team. Job titles are recognized in around 30 languages, so international contacts are covered as well as English-speaking ones.
The crown can change over time. Hunter re-evaluates it as lead data is refreshed. For example, when a job title is updated or a more complete title becomes available. A lead can gain or lose the crown without any action on your side, and the crown may also be missing when we don't have a job title on record for that lead.
What Information does a company lead contain?
A company lead in Hunter can include the following information, depending on what’s available in Hunter or has been added by you:

Website – Company website or primary domain.
Location – Geographic location of the company.
Industry – The Industry the company operates in.
Size – Estimated company size (number of employees).
Company type – Type of organization (e.g. SaaS, agency).

Year founded – Year the company was established.
